Impressed current anodes are usually installed in conventional horizontal groundbeds when there are no environmental restrictions or in deepwell groundbeds when dictated by an arid desert environment. In both circumstances surrounding the anodes with a low resistivity backfill lowers the anode to earth resistance thus increasing the life and performance of the anodes.
BORNA Godaz company supply three types of carbon backfill materials with high carbon content (80% metallugical coke, 90% petroleum coke and 95% special petroleum coke) According to IPS-M-TP-750/2 standard. The main differences of these three types of coke are chemical properties and density quantity as following tables:
Type1: metallurgical coke breeze | Type 2: petroleum coke breeze | Type 3: special petroleum coke breeze

According to IPS-M-TP-750/2 standard, the specific strength of coke type 1 and 2 should be less than 100 ohm.cm and the specific strength of type 3 coke should not be exceeded than 0.1 ohm.cm. The difference in grading of these three types of coke is as follows:
Type1: metallurgical coke breeze | Type2: petroleum coke breeze | Type3: special petroleum coke breeze
